So, this week is, as ever, my week off and will be filled with much sorting out of stuff, including:
- transferring sky
- Getting BT line sorted once and for all
- acquiring internet access of the broadband variety
- sorting washing machine which is leaking a little and has a jammed drawer
- joining gym and using it
- writing various reviewsof EPs
- going to gigs and general socialisation
- getting my blockbuster card
- changing addresses on many accounts and things
- getting post from other house (what's the best way of doing this? just going there and knocking on the door?)
In other news, a documentary looking at Cole Porter's influence on popular music has inspired me greatly to learn more (about the triple time and two-beat rhythm shift, the difference between tunes in major and minor keys and the 1920s in general, as well as his music in particular). In an effort to do this and to expand my music collection, I have bought a Cole Porter box set (v cheap), a rat pack collection (cos they are cool) and Broken Social Scene (as I love that Let it Die album by Feist)... I'm becoming much more jazz-oriented and moving away from my rock roots... or maybe I'm just expanding my tastes as I still feel SOAD are great... SOAD and Cole Porter - now there is a combination - both innovative, both bringing influence from foreign lands and putting them into a form that is both appreciated for its acceptable sound, its subversive lyrics and technical brilliance.... music never changes that much in essence...

Maybe there's even hope you'll get into Jamie Cullum after all, eh? :)
